Prototype Board - Pressure Sensor as Liquid Level Meter

Prototype Board - Pressure Sensor as Liquid Level Meter

This is a quick demonstration showing the MPX5050GP pressure sensor being used to detect the water level in a container. As can be seen, the "pressure" where this video was recorded is about 191 as read from the LPC1768 micro-controller's analog to digital converter. These readings can be converted into actual meaningful values if some calculations are performed. However, for the purpose of this video we are seeing that as the tube filled with air is inserted deeper and deeper into the gallon jug the value being read gets larger and larger indicating the pressure sensor is detecting a pressure change based on how deep the probe is placed in the water. The height of the water column determines how much pressure is exerted. From these observations we can calibrate our probe to determine how much liquid is in a container. ============================================================ The system currently contains the following: - mbed LPC1768 micro-controller - LCD - Sensor board with: - TTL level serial mux/demux chip - Two sensor circuits and BNC connectors. - ULN2803A IC to drive a couple of solenoid valves. ( http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/uln2... ) - Roving Networks RN-XV WiFi device - Pressure sensor circuit using Freescale MPX5050GP1 which will be used to detect liquid levels. - Power to the board is supplied by either USB or 5V through power barrel connector. - 12V power circuit for solenoid valves

Pressure Switch Adjustment

Pressure Switch Adjustment

Square D pump switch adjustment. How to set the range and top end. If you have a pump that's cycling on and off chances are your pressure switch is out of adjustment or you have a bad ballast pressure tank. To ask questions contact us at: http://waterreclaim.com/

Replacing a well pressure switch & re-pressurizing the tank to avoid short cycling

Replacing a well pressure switch & re-pressurizing the tank to avoid short cycling

NOTE!!! : The tank in this video had a collapsed bladder!! That is the reason I was letting air INTO the Schrader valve to allow water out of the bottom. This video covers replacing the well pump pressure switch as well as properly draining the tank and allowing it to re-pressurize properly to keep the well pump from short cycling.

Measuring liquid level using a differential pressure transmitter

Measuring liquid level using a differential pressure transmitter

In this video, we see a differential pressure transmitter used to infer liquid level in a plastic tank by meausring the air "backpressure" in a bubble (or dip) tube.

Water Heater Pressure Relief Valve - Prevent Water Heater Explosion - Replace a Relief Valve

Water Heater Pressure Relief Valve - Prevent Water Heater Explosion - Replace a Relief Valve

Subscribe and visit our weekly podcast for more tips https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/fix-it-home-improvement/id880903087?mt=2 A routine every homeowner should have is checking the temperature and pressure relief valve on the hot water heater at least once a year. Once every 5 years the relief valve should be replaced. If the relief valve is not working properly, heat and temperature can build and cause the water heater to explode. A hot water tank can cause extensive damage and the explosion can be potentially fatal for people in the house. Before purchasing a new valve, check the temperature and pressure settings on the old valve to get an exact replacement. You can purchase a new valve at most hardware stores. If your relief valve is dripping, you need to replace it immediately. If you bleed the valve and it keeps dripping, you need to replace it immediately. If the relief valve will not flush any water, you need to replace it immediately.
