Mike Webb Interview

Mike Webb Interview

Mike Webb got an education in old time music at the feet of perhaps the most famous sideman of all time, Pete Kirby aka Bashful Brother Oswald of Roy Acuffs Smokey Mountain Boys band. Brother Oswald as he was known the world over, taught Mike to play the dobro which the legendary pioneer had made famous. He also taught Mike the dropthumb style of playing banjo. He went on to work in Grand Ole Opry member Wilma Lee Coopers band. He has worked or recorded with the likes of : Marty Stuart ,Little Jimmy Dickens, Mac Wiseman, Jim and Jesse, Charlie Louvin, Buddy Jewell, Tanya Tucker ,Lynn Anderson ,Lorrie Morgan and a host of others. The Mike travels the country with his group performing as well as educating the audience about the early beginnings of traditional country music. His instruments are in their self a historic relics of country music as they once belonged to Brother Oswald who played the for some 54 years in Roy Acuff's band. Having wanted them to continued to be played after he was gone Brother Oswald wanted his longtime student to have them and not be behind glass in the Hall of Fame , and they couldn't be in better hands. This is Mike's artist interview with Erica Lee. He also teaches Mel Bay Pro technique, harmonics. www.mikewebbmusic.net www.melbay.com Produced by Rob Haines http://www.robhainesstudio.com
