We visit a Charleston restaurant that once served George Washington

This week we’re in Charleston, South Carolina visiting Sean Brock, whose Husk restaurant was the talk of the town when it opened in 2010. We spent some time with Brock—who you might also recognize from the PBS series Mind Of A Chef—at his higher-end restaurant, McCrady’s, where he and his team take traditional Southern ingredients and twist them into something new and breathtaking. Best Cocktails in LA

Best Cocktails in LA

Hi CYBES! I partnered up w/Room77.com to bring you a fun glimpse at some of my favorite places in LA to booze and shmooze. First up is the ultra sexy Fig & Olive on Melrose. It has a Mediterranean chic vibe and in addition to the killer cocktails it serves up some delish food. I drank a Cucumber Cosmo and a Fig & Walnut Julep. Amazing. Next up was the hip Blind Barber in Culver City. Part barber shop, part speak easy, this place was beyond cool. Obsessed. Then I was off to The Charleston, a popular west side spot, with a gorgeous Bartender and a very festive (and strong!) drink. (aka Victoria's Secret) Love it. The last two spots were La Descarga and Sassafras, both in Hollywood, both have live music and both are SO F-ING COOL. Go everywhere immediately... and please take Uber if you do! Charleston Kitchen." We'll be chatting about Southern cooking and answering your questions live! WHAT'S KITCHENPARTY?: It's a weekly live-streaming food series by http://bakespace.com and co-hosted by +Babette Pepaj, founder of BakeSpace.com, +Rene Lynch (Food Editor, Los Angeles Times) and +Jeff Houck (Food Editor, Tampa Tribune) -- where we chat with the culinary world's most innovative movers and shakers live on Google Hangouts. ABOUT TED LEE: Siblings Matt and Ted grew up in Charleston, South Carolina. When they left to attend colleges in the Northeast, they so missed the foods of their hometown that they founded The Lee Bros. Boiled Peanuts Catalogue, a mail-order catalogue for southern pantry staples like stone-ground grits, fig preserves, and, of course, boiled peanuts. When an editor of a travel magazine asked them to write a story about road-tripping their home state in search of great food, they embarked on a second career as food and travel journalists. They currently are contributing editors at Travel + Leisure and frequently write food stories for Bon Appetit, The New York Times, Fine Cooking and Food & Wine, among other publications. Ted lives with his wife, the artist E.V. Day, in Brooklyn, NY; Matt, his wife Gia, and their two sons live in Charleston, SC. To learn more, visit: http://mattleeandtedlee.com/lee-bros/
